Globalization is a process which has been going on for thousands of years. It includes huge migrations across continents and from one continent to another.

Despite huge migrations which occurred thousands of years ago, and just hundreds of years ago in many instances, you probably don’t realize how fractured life was just a few hundred years ago. In England 500 years ago, the residents of one village and the residents of another village a mere 25 miles away had considerable difficulty understanding each other. That’s how fractured the English language was in the days of Henry VIII. It was the King James Bible and Shakespeare’s writings which standardized the English language.

These were early steps to globalization. So, globalization began with tens of thousands tiny regions throughout the world interacting with their neighbors.

The next step was for citizens from diverse areas of the same nation interacting with each other.

And the next step of globalization was for nations to interact with each other. Modern advances in communications and transportation have substantially contributed to this (just as advances in ship designs did in earlier times).

So globalization is simply the continuing step in a process which has been going on for thousands of years.
