China is paying more attention to the impact of trade conflict on the job market and will provide financial assistance in the public finance sector for the re-employment and livelihoods of people affected, said Chinese Minister of Finance Liu Kun in an interview.
The newly-nominated finance minister is mostly concerned about the potential job losses and people's livelihoods affected by US-China trade frictions, according to the interview with Reuters.
"After all, some enterprises are affected by tariffs and reducing exports will inevitably affect employment," said Liu.
He said China will help solve the re-employment of affected workers through financial relief in the public finance sector by providing assistance in job training and finding new forms of employment. The finance ministry is fully prepared in this regard.
"Overall, we believe that the trade frictions are provoked by the United States. We are not willing to engage in any trade war, but we are not afraid," Liu said. "China will resolutely respond to the unreasonable measures taken by the United States."
China's tariffs on 16 billion US dollars' worth of US goods took effect on Thursday when the US slashed additional 25 percent tariffs on a similar amount of Chinese goods the same day. China has also filed at the World Trade Organization (WTO) a complaint against the US taxation measures.
